Really wise words here. We need to implement this style of mixing. In a perfect setup you set your gains where you need them and then you are not allowed to touch them the rest of the service. If you adjust the gain to get more presence in the house you just blasted that person or instrument out of the monitors and that has to be fixed…again. So gains, then house to make sure it all sounds good and you can hear everything properly, then go for the monitor levels. If we can do this we eliminate so many issues at once.
